The Water is Wide: Songs of shore, fen, and tide
A musical voyage exploring water from the shoreline to the horizon. From selkie tales to Anglo-Saxon sailors’ stories, and from lovers’ laments to the forgotten voices of the fens, our programme celebrated water from the shoreline to the horizon in folk songs and poems alongside brand new choral works.

Seedspell
Seedspell wove music and words from across the ages into a celebration of nature. From an 11th century charm to bless a barren field, to a modern-day plea to preserve our rivers, the programme celebrated barley and bees, herbs and healing and hares, the ancient mysteries of the natural world, and our fragile position within it.

We sang two new commissions inspired by our collaboration with Cambridge University Library at the launch of the Curious Cures exhibition, bringing medieval medical manuscripts to a modern audience.

The Cup of Poison: folksongs of foul fiends and dark deeds
An evening of songs and readings about foul fiends and dark deeds across the centuries! Murder and misdeeds abounded as we looked at some of the darker sides of folksong, featuring poisonous relationships, gallows confessions and the song of Mad Tom of Bedlam. Not for the faint-hearted!

Rip-roaring renditions of drinking songs throughout the ages – with medieval satirical songs, Tudor tavern tunes, bawdy baroque ballads, folky pub favourites, and even temperance songs to offset a heinous hangover – there’s something to quench everyone’s thirst!
